Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and Infusion Services
The Cancer Center and Infusion Services provide care to oncological, hematological, and general patient populations.
Staffing is established to consistently deliver safe quality care for optimal patient outcomes in accordance with Virginia state guidelines and nationally recognized evidence-based standards and guidelines established by professional nursing specialty organizations, i.e. Oncology Society of Nursing (ONS). Staffing requirements in an ambulatory setting are multifaceted, recognizing variables consistent with population mix; care needs; treatment regimens; number of chairs and beds; services provided; and accreditation requirements.
Daily care assignments fluctuate based upon these variables.
A match of RN experience with the needs of a recipient of nursing care services in context of the practice setting and situation will be established at all times. Recognizing that the goal of staffing requirements is to ensure patient safety, team member’s performances are annually challenged through evidence-based practice competencies. The renewal of established licensure and certifications is required for all clinical team members.
